The Surrealism of the Underlying Metaphor

I can’t review poetry. I just don’t have the language needed to properly analyze a poem and give the appropriate amount of feedback to compliment or improve it.

I was one of those kids with a note book full of poetry. Or, in my case, I was one of those kids with a 3-and-a-half-inch floppy full of poetry. And as one can expect of the averagely angsty high school student, floppy was exactly what my poetry was full of.

Over the years, I have come to have a better understanding of what sounds like good poetry. I can read a poem and confidently say what is good and what is not. I just worry that when someone gives me a poem of theirs for the purposes of review, that I just won’t be able to summon up what it is they want in terms of feedback.
